The victim has been identified as Bel Bahadur Gurung, 55, a resident of Gunjnagar-8, Chitwan.
Reports quoted locals as saying that Gurung had gone to Majhuwa Community Forest near the Chitwan National Park for cutting grass for his livestock when he encountered a tiger and fell prey to it.
Local later found Gurung's body in a mutilated state and sent it to Bharatpur Hospital for postmortem.
Police are said to be trying to ascertain whether the tiger was a man-eater.
Instances of tiger attacks are rare in Chitwan and people dying of it even rarer, though the national park is home to significant number of big cats. nepalnews.com
